Features
What Folio does
Folio follows the IB’s own steps for each part of the Diploma, records who did what and when, and gets the result ready for IBIS and eCoursework. Every preview on this page is clickable.
The full tour, in about two minutes. Captions are in the player.
CAS
Creativity, activity, service
Students keep their CAS as they go, from a phone or a laptop. The CAS teacher sees every student on one list, and every piece of evidence opens on the page.
The student
- Experiences with dates, strands and learning outcomes
- Typed reflections, and spoken ones of up to three minutes
- Photos, video, audio, documents or links as evidence
- The CAS project, planned before it is submitted
- Anything she posted, she can take back
The CAS teacher
- Who needs you, and why, at the top of the list
- Supervisor sign-off by email link or signed paper form
- Suggested nudges for students who have gone quiet
- A brief for each CAS interview
- A weekly summary email
Extended Essay
The 2027 model, step by step
Nine stops in the IB’s order. Folio shows the order but never makes a student wait on a teacher. Click a stop to see what happens there.
The student
- Topic, subject and research question
- Plan and draft by link, with written feedback
- A note after each reflection session
- The final essay as a PDF, checked for anything that identifies her
- The RPF, filled into the IB’s own form
The supervisor and EE coordinator
- The coordinator assigns supervisors and sees everyone
- A supervisor sees only their own students
- An email when a student hands something in
- A predicted letter from the descriptors or from criteria marks
- The essay pack, code-stamped, with every RPF
Theory of Knowledge
Exhibition and essay
TOK is marked in numbers. Folio works out the letter from the cut-offs your school sets, and the letter feeds the core points. Move the sliders to try it.
The student
- The exhibition prompt, from the IB’s list
- The essay title, from the six your school posts
- The TK/PPF, filled into the IB’s own form
- Her released marks and comments
The TOK teacher
- Exhibition and essay marked out of 10, with a justification
- Copy buttons for typing marks into IBIS
- The exhibition sample, code-stamped, from IBIS’s session numbers
- The essay pack with every TK/PPF
Internal assessments
Handed in, marked, ready
Each course shows only its own components. Files are converted on the device to what eCoursework takes, and the individual oral is recorded right in Folio. Press Start recording to try it.
Handing in
- Images, audio and video resized or re-encoded to fit eCoursework
- A Word file refused, in words, where the IB wants a PDF
- A “this is my own work” declaration
- The oral information form, typed and filled into the IB’s PDF
Marking
- The work, the criteria and the band descriptors side by side
- Band summaries for most subject groups (Music, Theatre and Dance on the way)
- Release a mark, or change a released one with a recorded reason
- The moderation sample matched from IBIS’s session numbers
Predicted grades
Predictions, core points and results
The coordinator sets the reporting points. Teachers type into a grid, and Folio adds it up, core points included. Change a grade or a letter to see the total move.
Predicting
- Up to six reporting points, one marked as the IB’s
- Each grade locks when it’s saved
- The EE letter from the supervisor, the TOK letter from the TOK teacher
- Core points and a total out of 45
- A file of the IB’s grades, ready for IBIS
Results
- Predicted against final results, by subject and student
- Years side by side, and trends over time
- Past years pasted in from a spreadsheet

The coordinator
The whole year group, at a glance
A filing system that is always up to date, not a dashboard full of alarms. Work is flagged late only once it really is late. Click a dot.
Seeing it
- A board of every student and every requirement
- Due dates, with a clash view of where they bunch up
- A printable report for each student, with predicted grades
- Announcements and a documents library
Running it
- Staff, students and schedules imported from your SIS
- Roles that can change at any point in the year
- Classes, leavers and transfer students
- Download for IBIS, with personal codes stamped
For everyone
Easy to pick up
Most staff use Folio a few times a year, so it explains itself: a short tour of each screen, help on every page, and Ask Folio, an optional assistant that answers questions about how Folio works. Pick a question to see.
- Ask Folio helps with using Folio, never with a student’s work
- Each school switches it on, for staff and for students separately
- Works on a laptop or a phone, and on a phone’s home screen
- Emails carry names and a link, never the work itself
- Light and dark display
- School Google sign-in; Microsoft sign-in is coming
Records and copies
Your data, in your hands
Everything in Folio can leave Folio, in ordinary files. With the weekly Drive copy, it arrives in your school’s own Google Drive every week, laid out for IBIS.
Exports
- One student’s records and files in one download
- The whole school’s, sent to the coordinator as links
The weekly Drive copy (add-on)
- Every file, form and mark, every week, in a Shared Drive you own
- Personal codes in a register
- A file removed in Folio stays in your Drive, renamed
